My major TV break was joining this show as a resident comic in a regular segment. Many people felt I got the gig because my Dad was already doing it. This wasn't true. Somers Carol, the producers, weren't known for their sentimentality. Daryl had seen me doing High Society and knew I was a comic. The father-son angle was a risk factor to them. Luckily it worked and I got the regular gig. I'll always be grateful to Daryl for the opportunity. It changed my career.
